Step 3

Step 3.  TAKE OFF THE LID (BE CAREFUL)
The lid is brittle and easy to crack.  I used a paint spatula.  If you don't have one, purchase one that is thin and flexible.  If you rush this, you will break the lid.  Take your time.

Step 4:  FIND THE COOLANT LINES
This is the most important step of the project.  If you "F" this up, you will have a very large paperweight on your hands.  If you got the lid off without cracking it, then take a break at this stage.  Reset your mind, go watch a video; eat a sandwich.

As I got closer to the bottom, I switched to plastic tools (a caulk remover and a bike inner-tube tool).  I felt more comfortable using plastic once I dug out approximately two inches.

When I saw the bottom, I took an overnight break.

With my fingers, I scraped away the foam to find the first line.

The bike tool worked great here.

Once both lines are visible.  Take another break.  Go watch Pulp Fiction.

You have to dig through approx 3 inches of foam before you reach the coolant lines.
